Zebulon — Zebulon and Wake Forest-Rolesville middle schools found themselves in a long battle for a win Wednesday, but Zebulon finished on top, 28-22, to stay undefeated on the season. Both teams were 3-0 heading into the game. The lead went back and forth after the half when Zebulon was on top 6-0. Wake Forest took the 22-20 lead with four minutes left, but after Zebulon converted on fourth down, the team scored with 1:22 to go to clinch the victory. Zebulon’s winning streak has now stretched to 15 games, including last year’s perfect season. The group faces Heritage today (Wednesday), a team Zebulon coach Mike Murray said will pose a threat. The group then travels to East Wake High the following week to take on the newly formed Wendell Middle team, who is doing quite well in its first season. The next week, Zebulon will play East Wake, another solid team according to Murray.“Both games are going to be a test,’ Murray said. “We had no turnovers and no penalties in this week’s game. When you play football like that you have chance to win every week.”
