Knightdale — Josh Gorham opened with a 75-yard, followed by Greg Jackson's 61-yard interception returned for a touchdown to give the Knights an early lead they would hold on to in Monday's 38-27 win over West Johnston.

The victory for the Knights is also the first loss for the Wildcats, now 8-1 overall.

Early scores on defense and special teams set the tone for the evening, sure enough, but the Knights continued the streak through the final minutes of the game. Scoring 15 unanswered fourth quarter points, Jackson rushed for a 28-yarder, followed by an 85-yard interception returned for six more by Aaron Smith.

Gorham led the team on the ground, managing 151 yards on 12 carries.

The homecoming victory left the Knights 4-5 overall, 3-2 and fourth place in the Greater Neuse conference.

The team travels to Clayton next week to face the Comets (1-4) before facing its rival East Wake (2-3) the following Friday in Knightdale.
