HCA hosts, wins tourney

Zebulon — Heritage Christain Academy hosted the Heritage Invitational Volleyball Tournament Friday and Saturday, August 29-30.

Five teams entered into the tournament including Heritage, Christian Faith Center from Creedmoor, Calvary Christian School from Greenville, Emmanuel Christian School from Washington and Northview Christian School from Fayetteville.

After two days of play, the Lady Patriots from Heritage did not lose a match and won the championship for the second straight year.

Friday's play determined the seedings for the double-elimination tournament on Saturday.

On Saturday, Christian Faith Center defeated Emmanual and HCA defeated Calvary in the opening round.

HCA then faced Christian Faith Center in the winner's bracket and won the match two games to one.

In the loser's bracket, Calvary defeated Emmanuel, and Christian Faith Center defeated Calvary to earn a rematch shot with Heritage.

Heritage saved their best volleyball for the championship match and defeated Christian Faith Center in two straight games.
